Custom wooden surfboards that leave the workshop represent hours of careful work. Each one starts with sourcing and selecting the best timber for the board that has been commissioned. The wood is then cut and prepared to exact specifications before the surfboard shape is constructed, then shaped, then glassed and finished. When it comes to custom wooden surfboards, no two surfboards are quite the same and because of the labour-intensive nature of the process only a handful of these wooden surfboards can be made in any given year. Here are a few made recently.
